A Turkish manufacturer is to start production of a gas-powered power plant.
The State-owned Akan Group said on Tuesday that it will start the plant with two gas turbines, which will generate 5,000 MW of power.
It said the power plant will have a capacity of 25,000 MWe and will be powered by natural gas.
Akan, which has already been developing gas-electricity projects in Europe, has previously built gas-to-electric power plants in Spain and France.
Its first plant, in Turkey’s northern province of Hakkari, will have about 8,000 units.
It will also be the first plant to be built by Turkey’s Turkish Power and Natural Gas Holding Co, which owns more than 80% of Akan.
