Turkey’s ambulance driver who crashed while transporting emergency equipment has died in a traffic accident in Turkey, the country’s national ambulance service said on Friday.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a tweet that the driver of the ambulance, a 55-year-old Turkish-American, died at the scene.
He did not say when the accident happened.
The ambulance service, which runs across three provinces in Turkey and serves more than 50,000 people, said in an official statement that the accident occurred in the city of Silivri in the southern province of Van.
The driver was taken to a hospital but was later pronounced dead, the statement said.
The ministry said the driver was a passenger in a van.
